Editorial policy

How FitMyTires earns trust.

FitMyTires publishes transparent nominal-dimension calculations, documents the source behind every tire size and comparison page, and states clearly where the math stops. The site does not approve a tire or wheel setup for a specific vehicle.

Publisher and responsibility

FitMyTires is the publisher responsible for the calculator, methodology, which sizes and comparisons get a page, and corrections. Calculations are produced from visitor inputs or the two tire sizes named on a static comparison page.

Calculation review

The calculator uses one shared implementation for tire dimensions, diameter variance, speedometer change, ride-height change, and wheel-position estimates. Automated tests cover the formulas, formatting, the list of published pages, the generated pages, and browser behavior before release.

Source and publication standards

A tire size gets its own page only with documented evidence that the size exists. A comparison must use two source-backed sizes, satisfy the documented relationship and diameter-variance rules, and have a dated editorial decision. Manufacturer size listings are accepted with an exact source URL, publisher, verification date and size-listing review scope. Historical archive evidence establishes only that a size string appeared in the source. It does not establish popularity, current availability, reliability, safety, or vehicle compatibility.

What “reviewed” means

Reviewed means both sizes have a documented source, the calculations were checked, the diameter difference is within the published limit, and the page links to related comparisons. It does not mean the proposed size is approved for a vehicle. Wheel width and offset are never assumed on tire-size comparison pages. Position estimates appear only when actual wheel inputs are provided or the visitor explicitly confirms the same wheels. Optional supplied tire measurements are unverified and cannot establish fitment.

When new pages are added

FitMyTires does not add a page just because another size combination can be calculated. A new size or comparison needs evidence that people are looking for it, or a documented gap in the sizes the site covers. It also needs a current source for any claim about sizes on sale today, a quality check, and the same dated review decision as every other page.

Independence and monetization

FitMyTires currently runs without advertising, paid placements, or affiliate links. If that changes, commercial relationships will be disclosed and will not determine calculation results or fitment language. Read the current affiliate disclosure.

Corrections

To report an error, email hello@fitmytires.com with the page address or the sizes you compared, what looks wrong, and a source if you have one.

Confirmed calculation, source, wording, or broken-link errors are corrected in the shared calculation code or source data, so every affected page is updated consistently. Material editorial changes receive a new review date. The site does not silently convert a reviewed comparison into a vehicle-specific recommendation.
